Headline: Heavy Rains Bring Relief From Heat, Authorities Issue Flood Advisory

A spell of heavy pre‑monsoon rain brought much‑needed relief from the intense heat wave affecting several districts this week. Temperatures dropped by a noticeable margin as dark clouds covered the sky and cool winds swept through the city. Many residents took to rooftops and balconies to enjoy the downpour, while children played in the streets despite warnings from parents and local authorities.

However, the pleasant weather also raised concerns about urban flooding. The disaster management authority issued an advisory, urging people to stay away from low‑lying underpasses, open drains and riverbanks. Municipal staff were seen clearing clogged sewer lines and removing debris from storm‑water channels in an effort to keep the water flowing. Several roads experienced temporary traffic jams as rainwater accumulated in places where drainage remained inadequate.

Farmers in nearby rural areas welcomed the rainfall, saying that the timely showers would help prepare fields for the upcoming sowing season. Agriculture officers, however, cautioned that too much rain in a short period could damage standing crops in some regions. The meteorological department has forecast more scattered showers over the next few days and advised citizens to follow official safety guidelines.
